Aetna Assembly Solves
Hay Rake Dilemma |
 |
THE
SITUATION:
A major U.S. agricultural equipment manufacturer uses an adapter
bearing in two different models of hay rakes. The assembly with the
adapter bearing is comprised of seven different components/part
numbers supplied by five different suppliers. The bearing requires
regular lubrication - not maintained by the customer - leading to
premature bearing failure. |
THE CHALLENGE:
 | Consolidate seven components from
five OEMs into one assembly with a single part number. |
 | Replace the previous bearing
design requiring a regular lube schedule with a "lube for life"
design. |
 | Make the assembly
cost-effectively. |
|
|
AETNA'S SOLUTION
Design a packaged assembly that includes a sealed, pre-lubricated
adapter bearing, and mounting flange with specially placed bolt holes
allowing the assembly to retrofit existing hay rakes. |

Aetna Assembly Puts
Planter Into Production
|
 |
THE
SITUATION:
A major player in agricultural equipment has designed a new series of
seed planters. Greater functionality has been designed into the
planters, with easy-to-adjust controls, and made-to-last components.
It is taking a lot of product development time to get the new series
off the ground, and still no decisive solution. |
THE CHALLENGE:
 | Provide an assembly that meets
the application's long-life and ease-of-use requirements.
|
 | Help the customer get the new
line into the marketplace as quickly as possible. |
 | Provide an assembly that meets or
exceed the construction strength of die-cast aluminum. |
|
|
AETNA'S SOLUTION
Customize an existing stamped hanger and sprocket assembly design to
meet the application's requirements, one that can be produced quickly
and cost - effectively. |
